what is the difference in Class A, B etc? is this only used in the usftl rankings? or is it applied to the league as well?

Its not applied in the league just in the tourneys and national rankings. A being the top and D being the lowest if you have a new team and want to play tourney ball then start in D and work your way up. Use the Yankees as a model to build your team.
