2010 USFTL Buffalo, NY “Triple Point Cup” MAJOR NIT – April 17 & 18

Because of the majority of the team’s strong dissatisfaction with the location of this year Pittsburgh MAJOR NIT, we have decided to move the tournament to beautiful, new facilities (turf & grass fields) in Buffalo, NY. Local Buffalo hotels have agreed to slash their prices for USFTL teams attending.

On account of the late move, the USFTL will be awarding TRIPLE RANKING POINTS. The reason for the extra points is to reward the teams that will support us in making this a successful MAJOR NIT. This will be the only time triple ranking points will be awarded at a MAJOR NIT.

The USFTL would like to strongly apologize for all of the inconvenience that came along with this Pittsburgh MAJOR NIT this year. We do understand that teams need plenty of time to make arrangements & travel plans. And we thank the people that had patience with us. We have never been put in this situation before as long as the USFTL has been in existence
We had been desperately trying to secure 3-4 football fields since the end of January when we learned we would no longer have the fields that were used in 2009. Numerous calls & emails had been made to different Parks & Recs, Park Districts, surrounding cities, sports complexes, the schools districts, local League Directors and even local Pittsburgh team managers. We were turned down everywhere, for reasons stemming from the spring time with all of the rain, damage to the grounds, to the fields being taken for youth soccer. As soon as people heard the words “flag football” their response was instantly “no” with no negotiations. We contacted the Pittsburgh Convention Bureau numerous times but they were of absolutely no help what-so-ever.
Late afternoon last Monday, when a manager of a local team got back to us with 3 field locations that we would be able to use for the Pittsburgh MAJOR, we immediately posted the addresses and locations so that teams could start making arrangements. This was literally THE only option for Pittsburgh fields. Then coming into work Tuesday morning and seeing the multiple negative posts about where the fields were located, we AGAIN contacted the Pittsburgh Convention Bureau begging for new fields, and they strung us along for an entire week with a possibility and then came back with nothing.

We would also like to thank, Hall Of Famer, Gary Long and USFTL Buffalo Local Director, Derrick Floyd in their great help & support in securing these beautiful fields at such late notice.

Details for Host Hotels and local bars/attractions will follow in the next couple of days.

In closing, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understandings in these trying times. Good luck in Buffalo!!

The USFTL Staff,
Michael, Joanie, Natalie & Stephanie

Pitt Tourney Empty WE MUST SUPPORT THIS TOURNMENT

Post by J. Abram Wed 07 Apr 2010, 4:04 pm

Despite our first practice being this Saturday, and our jerseys are still on order, the Buffalo "FFL" Dolphins will enter this long awaited Buffalo tournament. It will give my younger players some well needed tournament experience and dust some cobwebs off from a few of my vets. Best of luck to all the Buffalo teams playing. Coach John Abrams
